Message From Rosemary Sterling, Treasurer

Message from Treasurer Rosemary Sterling To All Members:

If you get or have already received a check from the union go ahead and cash it! The State charged us dues when we got the one time payment of $756.00. WFSE looked into this and decided that the dues and fees should not have been taken out of the $756. 00. So, we are all getting the dues and fees taken out of our checks returned to us based on the dues and fees we paid on the $756. I apologize that this has been so confusing. No letter was included with the checks. However, it has 756 on the check stub. In the future we will make sure that letters or at least a clearer notation is added. Rosemary Sterling

More information to make this clearer. Some questions have been asked regarding why is my check less, why didn't I get a check, etc. This is due to the dues cap. For example, seasoned WorkFirst workers are already capped with their salaries, so they were not overcharged on dues, thus, no refund. I am an FSS 4, I got $2, Randy is an FSS 3, he got $5, Tessie is clerical, she got $10. The refund is the difference between the cap and what should have been paid. I'm concerned that there still has been no e-mail to the executive board explaining the details to everyone and not everyone is computer saavy enough to do blogs, etc. I know people that are lucky they can even get to their e-mail... *grins* I would like to know what is being done to solve this problem and not have it happen in the future. Will letters be sent with the Hudson refunds? Will the stewards/Presidents/e-board be notified PRIOR to the mailing so we will be prepared? Thank you! Karen Mork
